Privacy Policy — Chat2Close
Chat2Close ("the Extension," "we," "us") is a Chrome extension that helps you manage sales leads from Facebook Messenger conversations. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it's used, and what we do and don't do with it.
What we access and why
1. Facebook & Messenger page content. The Extension reads the content of Facebook and Messenger pages you have open, in order to detect conversations and let you organize them into CRM leads. This happens locally in your browser. We do not transmit your Messenger conversation content to our own servers.
2. Google Account (email & basic profile). Used to identify you as a signed-in user, so your CRM data and license status can be tied to your Google account. We check your email against our license records to confirm an active trial, 1-Year Pass, or Lifetime Access.
3. Google Drive (drive.file scope only). The Extension creates a single Google Sheet in your own Google Drive as a private backup of your CRM data (leads, notes, pipeline stages). We use the restricted "drive.file" scope, which only grants access to the one file the Extension itself creates — we cannot see or access any other file in your Drive.
4. Google Calendar. Used only to create calendar events for your own follow-up reminders and scheduled tasks. We do not read your existing calendar events.
5. Groq API (optional, user-provided key). AI-assisted reply suggestions and lead scoring require you to enter your own Groq API key in Settings. When configured, relevant conversation text is sent to Groq's API using your key to generate suggestions. We never see, store, or transmit your Groq key to our own servers. If no key is configured, no data is sent to Groq at all.
6. Local browser storage. Your CRM data (leads, tasks, notes, settings) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage APIs, in addition to the Google Sheet backup described above.
7. License verification. To confirm your trial/subscription status, the Extension sends your Google account email to our license-verification service (a Google Apps Script Web App we operate). This is used solely to check and record your access status — it is not shared with any third party.
What we don't do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or CRM data with third parties.
- We do not access any file in your Google Drive other than the one backup sheet the Extension itself creates.
- We do not read your Messenger conversations for any purpose other than organizing them into your own CRM view.
Payments
Purchases (1-Year Pass, Lifetime Access) are processed by Dodo Payments, a third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your card details — Dodo Payments handles all payment card data under its own security and privacy practices. Data retention
Your CRM data stays in your own Google account (Drive, Calendar) and your own browser's local storage for as long as you use the Extension. Uninstalling the Extension removes its local browser storage; your Google Sheet backup remains in your Drive until you delete it yourself.
Children's privacy
Chat2Close is a business tool intended for adult sales professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
